Production Values
The first five seasons of Game of Thrones were valued at about $5-6 million per episode, which would mean each season totaled between $50 and $60 million.
Once season six was in the works, HBO provided more financial leeway with $10 million per episode. The next would be more budget-friendly – only costing about $7 million for each one.
Producers wanted more money with the last season, so the network administered their most generous offering in the show’s history of $15 million for each episode.

The success of Game of Thrones has led to a spin-off prequel series. The show is set 200 years before the events of the original hit series.
