Complete Your Collection of Neil Young Signed Memorabilia

Born on November 12, 1945, Neil Young is a famous singer, prolific songwriter, and a passionate humanitarian and activist. Young grew up in Ontario, Canada before moving to Los Angeles in the 1960s to pursue his musical career.

Young became interested in music at an early age. He often listened to popular music on the radio. He particularly idolized Elvis Presley and also named Link Wray, The Ventures, Little Richard, Johnny Cash, and the Fleetwoods as some of his early musical influences. Young first learned to play the ukulele before learning to play the guitar. By the time that he arrived in Los Angeles, Neil Young was already an experienced performer after playing in bands since his teens and performing as a soloist in Toronto.

This move proved life-changing to Neil Young’s career as he formed Buffalo Springfield with fellow musicians Bruce Palmer, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, and Dewey Martin. The band’s music is a curious mix of country, rock, folk and psychedelic that lead to the band’s success. Their first record, Buffalo Springfield, and single “For What It’s Worth” became an instant hit. Unfortunately, strained relations among the band members and their management led to the band’s early breakup.

After the band’s breakup, Neil Young went solo and released his first album in 1969, to mixed reviews. Shortly after, he joined the group Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, which played in the infamous 1969 Woodstock Festival. A year later, he released his third solo album that catapulted him to commercial success.

Since then, Young became known for his prolific recording and musical work. He has received numerous awards, including a Grammy and a Juno. He was one of the few artists inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – once in 1995 as a solo artist and in 1997 as a member of the Buffalo Springfield. Young was also named as the 34th greatest rock ‘n roll artist of all time by the Rolling Stone magazine.
