Jordan, who then searches for Rocky to ask the latter to become his trainer. This Rocky spinoff produced a sequel in 2018, with a third installation expected to come out in 2021.
With the exception of Creed, which was penned by Ryan Coogler and Aaron Covington, each installation in the franchise was written, or at least co-written, by Stallone himself, lending credence to his talent not only as an actor but also as a writer.
Rocky holds the acclaim of being one of the top-grossing movie franchises ever in history, having enjoyed a $1.7 billion gross profit in box offices worldwide. It’s not just in theaters that it’s proven successful, having had its own fair share of awards and accolades throughout the years.
The recognition it has received include several Academy Award nominations and a sweep of Best Picture, Best Film Editing, and Best Director for the original film.
